European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024

Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024 brings the diversity of historically rooted and contemporary art and culture to the fore in 23 municipalities. On 20 January 2024, the Bad Ischl Salzkammergut Capital of Culture was officially opened in the Bad Ischl Kurpark. A varied programme awaits you throughout the year.

European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024

In 2024, the Salzkammergut with Bad Ischl as the banner city will bear the title of European Capital of Culture. For the first time in history, it will take place in the inner Alpine region. A total of 23 municipalities between Roitham am Traunfall and Bad Mitterndorf are part of the Capital of Culture region.

Emergence and revival

The Salzkammergut is known to many people as the home of summer retreats and Schnürlregen, rich in salt, lush meadows and forests, blue-green lakes and original traditions. Each of its eight regions is a world of its own.
